VAISNAVA FESTIVALS

The Varnasrama College students were blessed to attend a variety of festivals during their stay at SSKBK. The very opening of the Varnasrama College was on the auspicious day of Makara Sankranti, January 15, 2018.

Soon after followed the grand Paryaya Festival in Udupi. Paryaya is a religious ceremony that takes place every alternate year in the Sri Krishna Matha of Udupi. The puja and administration of Krishna Matha are distributed among the Swamijis of Ashta Matha's established by the Sri Madhva Vaisnava Sampradaya Founder-Acharya Sri Sripad Madhvacharya. Each Swami of every Math gets a chance to perform puja to Udupi Sri Krishna by rotation for a period of two years.

On January 29th, the devotees celebrated the important Vaisnava festivals of Sri Varaha Dvadasi by having a Laxmi Varaha Homa as well as hodling abhikhekam on the occasion of Sri Nityananda Trayodasi for which the devotees fasted till noon.

During their stay at SSKBK, the Varnasrama College students were also fortunate to take part in various Sobha Yatras, one in particular with a decorated bullock cart taking their Lordships Sri Sri Gaura Nitai and Srila Prabhupada on procession on the Raja Marga thus giving the Lord and Srila Prabhupada darshan of the various activities and developments taking place at SSKBK.
