ARCANA

Deity worship is an integral part of devotional service. And worship of the Deity is one of most important activities to make Varnasrama practices transcendental (daiva).

Gaudiya Vaisnavas follow Narada Pancharatra to conduct Deity services. Basics of Deity worship and yagna homa practices were very enthusiastically performed during the Varnasrama College period.

There were also theory classes discussing what is the Deity form of Krishna. Types of worship methods, panchanga puja, arati, sodhasopachara puja, kalasha sthapana, yagna kunda preparation, kushandika and udichya karma were introduced and practiced.

Students who were brahmin initiated and whose upanayana ceremony was done took turns to practice puja and yagna. Also, mantras and some stotram recitation were practiced. On festival days the students performed special yagnas.
