People now a days spend lakhs of rupees in decoration for different family, social, political and religious events.
Traditionally although there were expert decorators, every individual used to engage himself in decorating different things for different events, even if it meant a brahmin decorating a kalasha for puja. The items used for decoration in modern times are artificially produced in factories and synthetic in nature causing different types of pollution.
The students in Varnashrama college took turns to decorate the temple on festival days using the naturally available flora.
