We are researching and testing the best way of using deeply burned trees either for firewood or building materials. Our mill can create building materials, specifically 4 by 4 foot beams and boards.
Employment for locals:
- falling of trees
- bring logs to mill and milling
- waste management: making swales and wood chipping
With the help of local kids, we are clearing the slash piles blocking roads and pathways. There are no logs worth milling in slash piles, but there are lots of burned standing dead trees worth milling.
Current Activity
Vedic Eco Village has been thinning forests and building water batteries for 13 years. We are actively thinning out the fire hazard around homesteads and village areas. We are clearing the burned trees and processing them into firewood, chips and building materials.
