This is one of the six Vedangas. This is a very interesting and vast science with applied mathematics to calculate time in precision. Though its very complicated but even the layman in bygone ages were expert in prediction based on the observations and common sense.
This science plays an important role in many practical aspects of Varnasrama like agriculture, constructions, marriage and other ceremonies.
The course on Jyotir Veda included a brief study on Nakshatras (stars), Rasis (sun signs), grahas (planets, bhavas (12 houses), hora, sakunas, different systems of astrological calculations, parampara, panchanga (calendar), different calendars, varnas and rasis and good travelling muhurtas in a week. Vaastu principles were also discussed and applied in constructions made in Varnasrama College campus.
HG Hari Kirtan das, HG Vishnu Tattva das and HG Lakshmi Narayana das together compiled the course.
