The 2024 wildfire burned our surrounding forests. We left this 7 acre section intact for a year.
This summer we will log the standing burned trees. Good logs will be used for building materials, remaining tree materials used for diversion berms and forest nourishment. This will increase biodiversity and animal habitats, decrease soil erosion, and improve water quality and the water cycle.
Excavation Work
Deliverables:
- removal of burned trees including roots
- moving burned logs to saw mill (on site)
- building roadways and paths
- excavating site for 30 x 30 foot barn (earth covered)
- levelling future campground sites
- 30 feet water line digging (6 feet)
- bury burned structure remains
Timeline: 3 to 4 days this summer. Start time flexible
Budget: $3,500 to $5,000

Geohazard Challenges
The Vedic Eco Village is inside an alluval fan. Post wildfire, the Geohazard Likelihood is very high. Diversion berms made from burned trees can absorb debris flow from the surrounding mountains

Geohazard Risk Reduction Measures
- Fan-level channel conveyance
- deflection berms
- sediment capture basins
